I realize that this is not the proper place to judge other people met only via internet but since somebody else has already done that, i just want to add my two cents to the discussion.
I like to collect records myself but i find really sad and hard to believe how so many addicted ebay scavengers (more than likely with a wife, ex wife and/or kids) can bid on dozens and dozens of items on a daily basis spending all their income on those things instead of trying to give a better social status to their own families.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5819003952386264320.post-69518005901935338742012-11-03T14:26:03.046-11:002012-11-03T14:26:03.046-11:00i totally agree!!! record-conquerin' has been ...i totally agree!!! record-conquerin' has been goin' downhill since th' turn o' th' century!!! info on obscurities is too easy nowadays 'cause o' th' worldwidewebs, so any sucka 'n' there mama can gets 'n' sell records without a care, which either leaves ya emptyhanded or poor! not to be a dick but yer last records ya shared reminds me o' thriftstore finds that ya think could be promisin' but end up at th' back o' th' pile...back o' th' mind....back o' th' rubbish bin.......Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5819003952386264320.post-72893503298655199512012-11-02T08:54:36.232-11:002012-11-02T08:54:36.232-11:00"...that either someone working there scoops ..."...that either someone working there scoops anything good that comes in, or it goes straight to eBay"

Ditto. At least where i live, you almost never see any actual rarities in the record store bins / shelfs, very seldomly.
But, there is a catch...
You get to see the very same record stores maintaining ebay accounts, and listing them over there instead, heh...

Ie. i wouldn't claim that people working there scoop them for their own collections (although this might be happening as well obviously per occasion).
What they do is to cross-check their stock from the warehouse with past & current prices on discogs / popsike etc...then they do their tricks accordingly.
They simply won't list some stuff in the stores anymore, not even for a high price:
they just ebay it...they know that 95% they're gonna earn more this way (and sell faster as well).bX-59cppwhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04818127053220869547noreply@blogger.com
